Pay-Per-Click Call To Action Ads

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

Google and Yahoo recommend writing “call to action” ads for a higher click-thru response.  We tested this theory and it does seem to pull in higher click thrus.  We ran the same keyword with two different ad messages.  The first ad text had a general description of the product and the other ad text had an offer to a handbook.  The call to action ad produced a 1% higher click-thru rate.

Where are they coming from?

I had a client that is running a Pay-Per-Click campaign on Google and due to budget limits they were only staying up during normal business hours for Eastern Time.  We were a little concerned that we were missing potential customers on the West Coast since we were coming down around 2:00 pm Pacific Time.  We suggested that they increase the budget to stay up until at least 9:00 pm Eastern Time. We also added Google Analytics to the account to track if the budget increase was successful.  With Google Analytics we were able to tell that the state of California was the number one state where our traffic was coming from with Texas coming in second place.  We needed to keep the client’s campaign up throughout the business day, Pacific Time.  Google Analytics is great tool that provides a large amount of information to help you learn even more about where your visitors come from and how they interact with your site.
